The days of Team BDS and Team Vitality terrorizing European Rocket League together seem over. With five French out of six players, the two clubs have pushed the tricolor scene to the top… but are now in doubt. If Vitality has not succeeded since its title of European Champion in June 2021, the Parisian structure has decided to make a change in its “historic” workforce , hoping to breathe new hope for the third and last segment of the season, spring, which starts this Friday. The last chance to qualify for the Worlds, in the United States, in August.

At the top of the points classification of the Old Continent, BDS should go there. But the Swiss club saw its hegemony stopped. Ultra-dominant, winner of the three European Majors disputed during the Covid-19 pandemic, he proved his value internationally by winning the autumn one , last December. The first who opposed his young formation to the rest of the world. Only he failed to maintain this level of performance this winter. And the Spaniard Marc “MaRc_By_8” Domingo was thus placed on the bench, leaving his place to the talented French Enzo “Seikoo” Grondein (17 years old).

Despite the excellent results, the understanding was not as good for some time within the team, explains Alexandre Lopez, sports director at BDS. The majority of the players and the staff took the decision to test new profiles to see if we could find a good synergy. And after a few days of training, the players were convinced of the need for a change.”

A promise already operational

In the duel with Axel “Vatira” Touret, another young French nugget, for this place, Seikoo was finally chosen, in particular for ” his better synergy with the team during training “. Already close to Evan “M0nkey M00n” Rogez and Alex “Extra” Paoli, his new teammates, even before joining them, Seikoo measures the opportunity to arrive in this ambitious collective: ” BDS won everything last season, they have been considered the best team in Europe for quite some time. It will do me good to find communication in French, whether during matches or outside. »

Turning professional at Endpoint only nine months ago, the newcomer to BDS immediately showed himself at the level and gleaned some titles online. Listed tenth best player on the planet in 2021 by Octane.gg with only two months of competition in his legs, he could have turned pro earlier but encountered a one-year “ban”. The cause ? A tournament disputed with Alexis “Zen” Bernier, 13 years old at the time, who had taken the place of one of his teammates without notifying the organizers.

“But before my ban, I didn’t have the level at all to play in RLCS, I’m sure of that, accepts Seikoo. It’s an event that allowed me to prepare better, for a year I didn’t give up the game.”

With Seikoo’s Arrival, A French trio with ambition

Winner of only one continental competition this winter, Team BDS did not present themselves as favorites during the second Major, at the end of March. And the defending champion failed in seventh place, a disappointing result. With Seikoo, BDS wants to win again: “My time at Endpoint taught me a lot of things on the ground or on the mental aspect, assures this one . When I play finals with BDS, I won’t have any particular pressure or stress. This is a parameter that will benefit me.”
